LLQP Pass Rate: 59% Pass Every Module First Time
In the 12 months from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026, 18,551 candidates wrote the LLQP across Canada and 59% passed every module on their first attempt, according to the Insurance Council of BC's pass-rate report.
Module by module
| Module | First-attempt pass rate |
|---|---|
| Life Insurance | 76% |
| Accident and Sickness Insurance | 79% |
| Segregated Funds and Annuities | 76% |
| Ethics and Professional Practice (Common Law) | 79% |
Each module is passed by about three in four first-time writers, but you need all four. That is why the all-modules figure is much lower: a candidate who passes three and fails one has not finished.
Where candidates lose marks
- Applied questions. Most items describe a client and ask what to recommend or what the contract does. Recognizing a term is not enough.
- Calculations. Needs analysis, policy gains and annuity figures take time, even with a calculator.
- Close answer choices. Two options often look right; the reason attached to each decides it.
- Time spent in the reference manual. Seventy-five minutes for 35 questions is about two minutes a question. Looking up every answer runs the clock down.
What the pass rate does not tell you
Pass rates vary widely by course provider and by recruiting channel. Your own odds depend on how you prepare. If you pass full, timed module mocks with questions you have not seen before, comfortably above 60%, you are in a strong position.
